Axis outlines aggressive strategy

Axis Communications is scouting for solutions providers to sell its IP surveillance  solutions. The company has also beefed up its product portfolio by introducing IP-based network surveillance cameras and video encoders intended to address the growing physical security market.

"Since we set up our India operations in 2007 we have grown at 100 percent CAGR. We have created a network of 300 strong partners mostly consisting of traditional analog surveillance players. Our aim  is to enroll more IT solutions providers this year as the market for IP-based video surveillance is growing rapidly," said Bodil Sonesson Gallon, VP, Global Sales, Axis Communications.
To achieve its goal, Axis will work closely with distributor Ingram Micro. "We have some good IT partners in the top four cities. Our focus will be to develop partners in tier-2 cities and this will be achieved by conducting channel meets with our distributor," added Prakash Prabhu, Country Manager, Axis India.
The company will soon roll out a channel training program in 10 cities. "Last year, it was held in four cities. This year, in keeping with our focus to sign up partners in tier-2 cities we will organize our comprehensive free training program in 10 cities," informed Prabhu.
The market for CCTV and video surveillance equipment in Asia is expected to grow to $4.1 billion by 2011 from its $2.3 billion size in 2006.
According to Axis, the IP-based surveillance market in India is only 10 percent (half of the global average of 20 percent) while the rest is still dominated by analog solutions.
"India has the lowest rate of IP-technology penetration and hence the opportunity is immense," opined Gallon.
Axis’ range of products includes network cameras, video encoders, video management software, and a range of audio and video accessories. Axis is focused on six key industry verticals namely education, banking & finance, retail, transportation, government and industrial.
