CIOs share best security practices
Last month, Trend Micro, in association with United Business Media, organized a series of CIO roundtables in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi to debate and discuss the best security practices adopted by Indian companies. During the multi-city event CIOs shared their perspectives on security compliance, cloud security, data leakage, green IT, open source and virtualization. Mahendra Negi, CFO and COO, Trend Micro spoke about the challenges that cross-national companies face when dealing with security compliance standards.
Sunil Mehta, Senior VP and Area Systems Director, Central Asia, JWT, said, “In a downturn, you have to start looking at ways in which you can manage the cost more effectively. You learn to look at areas where you can manage projects better. You learn to use IT to improve efficiency and save costs. CIOs now want to see faster ROIs.” Some CIOs said that they had spun off their IT divisions in to SBUs to offer IT services to all group companies. This not only saved costs but also ensured better service levels.
CIOs also shared their experiences with cloud computing and how they worked closely with Trend Micro to overcome the security challenges. Murali KK, Head, Information Systems, Infosys, and Laxman Badiga, CIO, Wipro, shared the initiatives taken by their respective companies to reduce the carbon footprint.
