 Ganesh Mahabala, Regional Director, India and Saarc, VMware has over 18 years of experience. He is responsible for sales, marketing and business development. Prior to VMware, Mahabala has served in organizations like Sun Microsystems, Gulf Computers, and CDAC.
If not in the IT industry: I would probably be an advocate.
Biggest passion: Driving.
Behind the wheels: I currently drive a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV. But I dream of driving full throttle in a Ferrari Italia 458.
Gadgets I can’t live without: My BlackBerry, laptop and, of course, wireless internet. For leisure, my TV and home theatre.
Role model: Amitabh Bachchan. I admire his ability to deal with all ups and downs in his life, his ability to stay focussed and become a role model.
Weekends are for: Family.
Favorite holiday destination: There is so much to see and enjoy on the planet earth. But when I am done touring round the globe, I would love to stay at a resort on the moon.
Hate the most: Bad politics and bad politicians.
Ultimate ambition: To make my daughter a super achiever.
Wildest thing I’ve ever done: My marriage. It was a thriller; you can compare it to a potboiler Hindi movie!
Thing I most want to do in life: Live and let others live happily.
Favorite sport and sportsperson: I like cricket and Sachin Tendulkar. High speed driving thrills me.
If I became the Prime Minister: I would emulate Anil Kapoor’s character from the movie Nayak and make India the best place to live in, so much so that other countries envy it.
Celebrity I’d like to spend a day with: Shahrukh Khan. I think I can learn a lot from him, his simple principles and how he balances work, friends and family life.
Deepest and darkest fear: God forbid, if something were to happen to us, would our daughter be able to survive in this world on her own.
