Samsung India Appoints New MD


 CRN Network, January 9, 2012, 1325 hrs

Samsung has appointed BD Park as the President and CEO of Samsung South West Asia, and MD India.

 

Park, who was Director, Mobile and IT Division at Samsung India assumes his new role from today. He succeeds Jung Soo Shin who was President & CEO for Samsung South West Asia from February 2009 till date.


In his role as President & CEO of Samsung South West Asia Regional HQ,     Park will oversee the operations of Samsung India Electronics (SIEL); Samsung India Software Operations (SISO), Samsung’s R&D Centre at Bengaluru and Noida; Samsung India Software Center (SISC) and the company’s operations across the Saarc region.


Park brings with him over 28 years of work experience at Samsung having started his career with Samsung Electro Mechanics in 1983. He joined Samsung Electronics in 1991 and has worked in the Overseas Marketing Planning Group in Korea; Samsung Latin America and was the Head of the company’s subsidiary at Chile. He became the Director, Mobile Export team in 2001 and became the Head, South East Asia /South West Asia/Middle East Marketing Group in Global Mobile Business in 2004. He came to India as the Head, Mobile and IT Division in 2008 and has now been elevated to the position of President & CEO, Samsung South West Asia.  


A statement issued by the company said that under Park’s leadership, Samsung has emerged as a market leader in the fast growing smartphone market in India and the company’s market share in mobiles has grown from six percent in 2008 to over 30 percent as on date. Park is well known within Samsung for his very practical management style, innovative channel management and customer oriented approach. 


“It will be my endeavor to leverage the synergies of the existing Samsung businesses in India to ensure stronger growth for the company in this region and make Samsung as the most loved brand in the country,” said Park.
