After boycotting Dell for over two months, the members of the Nanded Computer Dealers Association have decided to lift the ban. In October, the association had boycotted the PC-maker, as the products available through channels were at a higher price than those sold through Dell website. The decision was taken after the Area Sales Manager of Dell, visited the city and met with the association on November 19.
Speaking about the meeting, Keshav Rahegaonkar, President, NCDA, “We held a meeting with the Area Sales Manager of Dell, where we both discussed the issues that we faced. The vendor explained to the members about the company’s pricing structure. Following this meeting, we held another meeting on November 30 where we were satisfied with Dell’s response to our issues and hence decided to lift the ban.”
Sukhpreet Shahani, Area Sales Manager, Maharashtra, Dell, said, “Our stock-and-sell products are accompanied with the Mcafee software and carry case. These have to be bought separately when buying online from our website. Hence, the products on the website are priced lower than those sold through resellers. It is for this reason that our prices of products available through channels are higher. During our meetings with NCDA members, we underlined this basic difference and the issue was resolved amicably.”
Dell also assured the association that it would keep the NCDA in the loop about any change in the prices of the products and new schemes. “Dell was generous enough to accept their mistake of not taking our association into confidence while doing events and seminars in Nanded. It has promised us that it will follow the rules of the association and work closely to conduct seminars and promotions,” added Rahegaonkar. |
