Fireworks at EMC, HP and Cisco

This Diwali, expect a lot of fireworks. Many leading vendors are likely to see major overhauls in their channel strategy and channel teams.

EMC has already seen several key members of its channel team leave, including Alok Ohrie and Viswanath Ramaswamy. More are expected to follow.

HP is planning a major revamp of its channel organization and go-to-market strategy. We have already seen Samsung’s Sunil Dutt join in place of Ravi Swaminathan as the President of PSG. There are strong speculations that IPG and PSG will be merged. Reallocation of portfolios and people are in the offing too. While channels will be celebrating Diwali, HP’s top managers from US will be in a closed door meeting with the India management team discussing the business overhaul.

Cisco is another vendor that’s likely to see major shuffle. Speculations are rife that many top managers may lose their portfolios for failing to achieve their targets. In 2007, Cisco India had set a target to double its revenues by 2010. However, in the past two years the company has managed a very modest growth. Shadow hears that a senior delegation from the global HQ is currently in India and questioning the Indian managers on the reason for non-performance.

Isn’t that too much fireworks for this Diwali!
