Oracle's shopping spree didn't end with its $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems. The vendor said it is acquiring AmberPoint, a supplier of service-oriented architecture (SOA) management software, for an undisclosed sum.
Oracle expects to close the acquisition of US-based AmberPoint by mid-year.
AmberPoint's software helps businesses diagnose and resolve issues in application performance and business transactions. Oracle cited insurance claims processing, where multiple applications must work together, as an example of where AmberPoint's software can provide benefits.
The AmberPoint toolset will become part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware product line, extending the capabilities of Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle SOA Governance and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
"We expect the addition of AmberPoint's products to Oracle Fusion Middleware SOA Suite will provide stronger end-to-end governance that allows customers to manage the entire lifecycle of SOA-based solutions, providing visibility and management across heterogeneous environments," said Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President, Product Development, Oracle, in a statement. |
