 “Biking is my passion”

With more than 14 years in the technology industry, Suresh Balasubramanian joined Cisco’s Consumer Business Group in May 2008 as National Sales Director. He leads the sales operations, and plays a key role in maximizing growth opportunities in the consumer market in order to position Linksys by Cisco as a premium brand in India. Prior to Cisco, he was with Microsoft and Modi Xerox.

If not in the IT industry: I would have been a restaurateur and opened my own restaurant.

Biggest passion: To climb Mount Everest some day. I love mountains and would love to take up mountaineering.

Behind the wheels: I currently drive a Toyota Corolla. I enjoy driving bikes more than cars, and dream of owning a Suzuki Hayabusa.

Gadgets you can’t live without: My iRiver MP3 player and Nokia E61i. The PDA helps me stay connected with my work and loved ones.

Role model: My father. In spite of his humble background, he rose above it and achieved all his dreams by sheer hard work and determination.

Weekend activities: I have two sons and love spending time with them. On weekends I play chess with the boys, take them out for movies and dine out.

Favorite holiday destination: Kerala. I simply love its beautiful backwaters and lush green tea estates.

Hate the most: Dishonesty and hypocrisy.

Favorite movies:  I’m fond of watching old movies like Ben Hur, My Fair Lady, Golmaal (1979) and Sholay.

Favorite star: Rajnikanth. I simply love his onscreen mannerisms which set him apart from all other actors.

Ultimate ambition: To open an Indian specialty restaurant. I intend to venture into the world of Indian culinary delights, after I get bored with the IT industry.
