The Trade Association of Information Technology (TAIT) will soon acquire the status of a legal arbitrator which will help it to officially mediate legal matters between its members.
“We are hopeful of getting the license within three months. Once we do, we can act as a neutral mediator for disputes among our members and legally provide out-of-court settlements. Most cases with which we are confronted are primarily payment-related, between a member and a vendor or distributor or customer. Our aim through this initiative is to promote ethical business practices in the channel,” said Pravin Dhoka, Director, TAIT.
Once the license is received, TAIT will create a panel of 10 members who will take up the responsibility of arbitration. The panel will also lay down the guidelines for arbitration.
“A decision passed by arbitrators is legally binding. However, the discontent party has the option of challenging the decision in court within 90 days of the judgment,” informed Dhoka. TAIT hopes to be empowered as legal arbitrator by April 1, 2009. |
