Websense gears up for portfolio expansion

 By Sharmee Roy

To strengthen its position in the information security market, Websense is planning to launch a range of products and channel initiatives in the coming months.
Jyoti Prakash, Channel Manager, South-east Asia and India, Websense said, “Till date, our focus has been on providing web security solutions. But now, we aim to expand our offerings in the messaging security and data protection space. We will soon launch the first security appliance which has all the functionalities of messaging and web security, and data protection in a single box.”
The security appliance is expected to be launched in India by May, for which Websense has already initiated partner enablement programs. “We are gearing up our channels in anticipation of the product launch. We have already finished the first leg of training in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore, where we trained 110 engineers of our authorized partners. In the second leg, due to start next month, we will take the training to a larger set of resellers,” added Prakash.
Also, in order to integrate and streamline deal registration and transaction processes, Websense has provided its partners with access to its online system. “By integrating our system with that of our partners, we aim to bring transparency to elements of channel engagement like deal registration, special pricing and customer account management. The online system will also provide them an overview of their relationship with us, transaction value of their Websense business, and the various incentives they are eligible for,” informed Prakash.
