Asus unveils Eee Box

Following the global success of its small-form factor notebook, Eee PC, Asus India has launched the desktop version called the Eee Box based on Intel’s Atom N270 (1.6 GHz) processor. Priced at Rs 16,490, excluding taxes, the Eee Box claims to consume 90 percent less power than a normal PC and is just 1L in size.  Asus plans to sell the Eee Box through channels to SMEs and homes. It will be distributed by Rashi Peripherals and Ingram Micro.

 

Nine Indians to represent country at WCG 2008

The India finals of the World Cyber Games 2008 (WCG 2008) saw an exciting finish, with nine winners being selected from a keenly contested gaming event held at Nehru Planetarium in Mumbai. The national finals had preliminary round winners from Delhi and Mumbai—contesting for a chance to represent India at the WCG world finals at Cologne, Germany between November 5 and 9, 2008. The Indian finalists also carried home Samsung's advanced G600 phone, along with the ML 2245 laser printer.
Samsung is the main sponsor for the WCG in over 70 countries this year.

 

Rashi rolls out 45-city CBF

Starting October, Rashi Peripherals has launched its annual multi-city channel education program called the Channel Business Forum (CBF). In its fourth year, CBF will be travel to 45 upcountry locations within a span of two months this year.
Suresh Pansari, Managing Director, Rashi Peripherals, said, “In the last two years, our focus was on B, C, and D class cities. However, this year we are planning to cover around 24 E class cities. We hope that this forum will help us strengthen our partner base in these regions and across India.”
This year’s CBF is supported by vendors like Altec Lansing, Asus, Freecom, HP, Logitech, Netgear and Sandisk.  Titled ‘Refueling IT’, the forum aims to educate partners about new market trends and showcase new technology.

 

LG boosts its LCD portfolio

LG India launched a new series of LCDs (W52TE) that boasts of up to 50 percent in power savings. The company has also introduced two new series of LCDs, namely the L206WU which consists of multi-link display models; and the W84 series categorized as the designer series.
The Flatron L206WU is a widescreen LCD monitor that can connect up to six additional screens, without having to install a second graphics card. The W84 designer series is targeted at consumers who want to enhance the ambience of their homes with stylish looking high-performing gadgets.
