Reminiscing 10 years of CRN

We are in the 10th year of CRN India and what a journey it has been for me, professionally and personally.
Of these 10 years, I have been associated with the brand for over 7 years. Even while I was away from CRN, I was engaged in launching and bringing out another channel publication. Several friends and colleagues have often questioned my decision of associating with a channel publication for so long, as they believe that this could limit my growth opportunities. And I did get swayed by their arguments, when for almost two years—between 2003 to 2005—I moved out of IT channels to pursue 'more exciting' opportunities. But not for long. I dearly missed covering IT channels and hence returned with a new channel publication. Despite being away for two years, I was welcomed in channels with open arms. Even while I was heading up the new channel magazine, often people would call me up believing I was with CRN. When I joined back CRN last year, it was extremely overwhelming for me to have so many in the industry call up and congratulate me, saying: "Good to have you back with CRN". I have often wondered what it is between me, CRN and IT channel. I feel a strong umbilical cord with both. CRN is one place where I came into my own, and the channel is where I got recognition. I recall the time when I joined CRN in 1998 and knew nothing about the functioning of IT channels. Many people in the industry handheld me, shared their industry knowledge and taught me the basics of channel business. Today, I feel an integral part of the channel fraternity. I get anguished when IT channels are pressed with issues; and am elated with their success. Celebrating 10 years of CRN, hence, is a very special moment for me. In a personal way, the new-look CRN is an expression of how proud and happy I feel being associated with a brand CRN and being a part of this fantastic community for 10 long years. I am sure that the next 10 years will be more exciting, memorable and gratifying! |
