Fortinet Plans Expansion

 By Sharmee Roy

UTM specialist Fortinet is on an expansion spree. The security vendor will open new branches, add large systems integrators to its partner list, and beef up its support infrastructure.
“We are readying for the next phase of the growth cycle, and are looking to expand and broadbase our presence. We have recently set up offices in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata, and will soon have branches in Chandigarh and Coimbatore. Our India support center recently started operations in Bengaluru. We are ramping up our training initiatives to increase the pool of Fortinet Certified Network Security Administrators along with our training partner, Ingram Micro,” informed Vishak Raman, Regional Director, India and Saarc, Fortinet.
The company plans to broaden its market coverage by tying up with large systems integrators (SIs). “On the channel front we aim to sign up large SIs and infrastructure providers having a regional or national footprint. We will appoint 15 such partners who will boost our reach. They will help us address the growing opportunities in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.”
As per IDC India’s 2008 figures, Fortinet is a market leader in the UTM appliance space with a 35 percent share. This year the company has set a revenue target of $12 million from its Indian operations.
