Lenovo Appoints Rashi As ND

 CRN Network, September 7, 2010, 1230 hrs

Rashi Peripherals and Lenovo have entered into an exclusive partnership for latter’s AMD products. Rashi will be the national distributor for Lenovo’s entire range of AMD-based PCs and notebooks including ThinkPad T, X, W series.

Currently, Lenovo has two SKUs for notebooks (one each for LFR and channels), one for AMD-based desktops and two SKUs for all-in-one desktops (one each for channel and LFR). The PC vendor will work on expanding its channel network and brand penetration through Rashi’s branch network.

“Lenovo already had a set distribution model for Intel-based PCs and notebooks, hence we will only distribute AMD-based models,” said Rajesh Gadgil, GBM, PCD division, Rashi Peripherals. Lenovo’s AMD-based PC business averages 2,000 notebooks, 500 AIOs and 500 desktops per month.

Rashi had a partnership with Lenovo earlier, which was dissolved in 2006. “We started the notebook business in 2004 with ThinkPad, in Karnataka up country. Later, Tamil Nadu up country was also added. Our partnership was primarily for consumer notebooks, and lasted for two years,” said Kapal Pansari, Director, Marketing, Rashi Peripherals.
