Asus Offers Burnt Warranty on Motherboard

 CRN Network, April 13 2009, 1500 hrs

Keeping in mind the voltage fluctuation problem faced in India, Asus has introduced the burnt warranty in AM/PS motherboard with anti-surge technology.

T Vinay Shetty, Country Head, Component Products, Asus said, “The P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard was conceived by our R&D team especially keeping the Indian environment in mind and under this new warranty policy, the company will replace the motherboard that’s burnt due to power fluctuation. With this little step of providing a real solution to the loss a user could have had due to the power fluctuation problem, we want make a strong impression in the mind of our partners in business and to the users at large, that we are a brand that cares for our customers and work towards a real solution. Technically such an innovative technology would have made its entry in the high-end product line but we wanted this to be a product of the common man; the one who faces the brunt of the power fluctuations.”

Under the new warranty policy, if at all the P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard is burnt due to power supply (SMPS) failure; the customer need not worry as the motherboard will be replaced by the vendor at no extra cost. The company is committed towards offering better services and better products to its customers and partners. And as part of this commitment, Asus along with its exclusive distributor Rashi Peripherals has also set up a toll free number for all service support.

Rajesh Goenka, VP, Sales and Marketing, Rashi Peripherals said, “This is the first time in India or probably the first time in the world, a motherboard is being offered with burnt warranty. I am sure that this warranty will further give benefit to partners to increasing business and profitability.”

P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard with Intel G31 chipset inside supports Intel Quad Core CPU and features 1600(OC)/1333/1066/800MHz FSB, PCI Express x 16, Serial ATA interface, dual-channel DDR2 1066(O.C.)/800/667 memory and 6-channel audio CODEC.

I really am a great fan of ASUS. This move by Rashi would benefit many, provided the same service/support is further extended to other series/models. "Benefit to partners to increase business and profitability", Good Job done here again...

Asus failure rate on mainboards little high & also thier repeated failures on serviced boards (RMA cleared out),Asus India has decent RMA facility, but this failure issue should be addressed clearly as Asus's reliability is questioned by end users.

Power abnormalities ( spikes / surges ) are one aspect that is adequately addressed at the Powersupply and then at the mother Board the least ( which can be done with LC filters and ferrite beads . India which probably has the most power outages and perhaps the largest penetration of back up systems with Pseudo sinewave inverters inverters could really use some high grade power supplies made specifically for the Indian market and it can be done with relative simple modification by specifications . And then challenge the Authorities to have at least a complete day of Power as opposed to shutting offf light s for 1 hour. That was a Joke that India participated in the Earth Vote ... and it was nothing ... because indian Electricity boards and supplies shut down almost every day without failing to do so. So the Challenge for all Indians is to try keep power for a whole day / whole week /29 days of a month . Ha Ha

Recently, a partner told me that a leading vendor has sent letters to several of its partners stating that they would like to audit the partners’ business. When the partner refused, he was sent a notice by the vendor’s legal department stating that the partner’s contract made it mandatory for him to comply with the vendor’s demand
