HP Plans To Break The Innovation Gridlock

 By Varun Aggarwal

Leveraging the cloud and application modernization opportunities in the market, HP has launched multiple initiatives. These include new cloud service automation (CSA), an application modernization transformation experience, modernization funding options, and new mission-critical services. HP expects that its partners will be able to don the role of end-to-end consultants with these services.

The reason for these initiatives? HP had recently conducted a global survey called Innovation Gridlock, according to the results of which one out of every two business executive feels that his company suffers from innovation gridlock in which the organization is blocked from driving new business innovation because most of its funding is consumed by operating the current environment. The survey also indicated that more than 50 percent business and technology executives feel that the gridlock is preventing their organization from keeping up with competition.

“This gridlock also carries inherent costs. Nearly 95 percent of respondents said that innovation gridlock cost them lost opportunities, 93 percent indicated it cost them in terms of lost effort from resources, and 99 percent said it cost them lost time,” revealed Kamal Dutta, Director, Software and Solutions, HP India.

With the new services, HP is trying to help organizations move out of this gridlock with a three-pronged approach. The first is to create self-funding projects that allow transformation within current budget constraints. The second is architecting new solutions for change so that IT organizations can quickly and easily add new functionality to ensure that today’s innovations do not become tomorrow’s legacy. The third is freeing up funds trapped in operations. The creation of self-funding pojects include offering hands-on HP application modernization transformation experience sessions to various customers to show them the benefits of modernization.

“By retiring legacy applications and eliminating complexity in technology environments, organizations will be able to self-fund their modernization journeys,” Dutta explained. This includes new HP modernization funding options, including funds to invest in even non-HP software, and to fund investments in new technology and innovation.

The new solutions would include HP’s new CSA solution. “With the new CSA solution, clients can improve efficiency, free up resources, and lower the risks associated with the adoption and management of cloud services,” Dutta stated. CSA is mainly targeted at the SMB market because HP sees huge opportunity for cloud services within SMBs.

The company has already tied up with Amazon to offer cloud services and is in talks with other cloud providers as well.
