RT Outsourcing to Expand ASP Network through Franchisee Model

  Dhaval Valia, 22 June 2009, 1600 hrs

RT Outsourcing plans to aggressively expand its network of franchised ASPs.

“We have today 300 service centers managed by franchisees and we have added nearly 50 new partners this year alone, across India, with a focus on strengthening reach in South India. Our existing IT partners are being trained on providing services in new areas of security surveillance and petrol pump automation. Thus we are creating more opportunities for our franchisees by helping them widen the scope of their business beyond providing IT post-sales support,” said Sanjeev Kakar, Director, RT Outsourcing.

Also, the company has recently been recommended for the ISO 27001 for security management.

Claiming that the company is one of the first reverse logistics service provider to attain the premier security management certification, Kakar added, “The security certification has been taken for our data center to protect customer’s information, along with our internal information which gets shared with us during the course of services we provide to them. This will go long way to ensure our clients feel more secure when they pass their information to us.”

The certification also augurs well for the company which has recently forayed in providing installation and maintenance services for security and surveillance equipment. “We have just signed an agreement with premier security companies like Honeywell, on the installations and maintenance of electronic security products. Getting the certification has inspired these companies to look at expanding the scope of our relationship with these new vendors,” said Kakar.

RT Outsourcing which started as a national ASP for IT products, has over the past year forayed into new areas like Telecom network rollout and maintenance business in the telecom sector. “Installing and maintaining telecom networks for telecom providers is a booming business as telcos are consolidating their tower infrastructure business and expanding them to rural areas. We have signed up with the leading equipment suppliers in this space and are now installing and commissioning 2000+ sites every quarter,” informed Kakar.

For this fast-growing business, the company has also set up a new training division, Tech@Gurukul, to provide advance telecom network training modules for Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). “We have trained 150 engineers so far on skills to install and commission base stations for NSN and plan to train 350 engineers by the end of the year. Moving ahead, we are targeting for BSC training. We currently have three training centers in Delhi, Jaipur, and Indore, and three are coming up in the West and East. Overall, our aim for this year is to train 1,000 students on various technology certifications including security and surveillance training,” added Kakar.

Recently, a partner told me that a leading vendor has sent letters to several of its partners stating that they would like to audit the partners’ business. When the partner refused, he was sent a notice by the vendor’s legal department stating that the partner’s contract made it mandatory for him to comply with the vendor’s demand
