Intex is set to roll out its range of netbooks by the end of June 2009.
Said Sanjay Kumar, DGM and Head, PC Business Vertical, Intex, “With consumers becoming value-conscious, netbooks hold good potential. Other than the semi-urban consumers and the education sector, we also expect demand from SMBs and large enterprises that are increasingly looking for low-cost and light-weight laptops for their field staff.”
In order to compete with established players, Intex is planning a 360° marketing campaign. “We have earmarked a budget of Rs 4 crore for netbooks which will be spent on print and TV commercials, and conducting roadshows in tier-3 cities. We have recently been identified as a tier-1 OEM partner for netbooks and nettops by Intel,” informed Naved Chaudhary, Head, Marketing, Intex.
In the current fiscal, the company aims to garner Rs 15 crore from netbook sales and has set a target of selling 1,000 units per month. Overall, Intex expects its turnover to cross Rs 800 crore this fiscal. Of this, Rs 200 crore will come from PCs and LCD displays. The company closed the last fiscal with revenues of Rs 466 crore. |
