HDS Appoints Venugopal As VP

 CRN Network, August 5, 2009, 1200 hrs

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has appointed Vivekanand Venugopal as VP and GM, India.

Previously, as the VP, Hitachi APAC Global Solutions Services, Product and Solutions Group, Venugopal played a significant role in Hitachi’s business in the Asia-Pacific region.

“As the analysts have reported, we recorded an incredible growth of 62 percent year-over-year in the external disk storage market in India in the last fiscal year. The region continues to represent high potential for our business. We are committed to sustain the growth momentum in India and we will continue to invest in this market,” said Kevin Eggleston, Senior VP, Asia-Pacific, HDS.

Venugopal replaces Natarajan Viswanathan, who left recently to pursue his own interests after a two year stint.

Vivekanand joined HDS in India in 2001 as business development manager, and later handled sales across India. In 2004, he was responsible for driving the storage management solutions business across Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Hitachi, he worked with a storage integration company based in Bengaluru, India.
