 CRN Network, Jan. 16 2009, 1000 hrs

Cisco has appointed HCL Infosystems as its national distributor for its Linksys consumer home networking products.

Craig Gledhill, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Cisco Consumer Business Group, said, “Cisco as a company is all geared up to take a leadership position in the consumer wireless networking market. The appointment of HCL Infosystems was a strategic move, designed to strengthen our focus on the consumer market. HCL has an extensive channel network and partnering with HCL will further drive our position, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities as well as in Large Format Retailers like HCL Digilife stores. We look forward to working with them.”

"With the laptop sales on a rise, this alliance with Cisco will help us promote the concept of going wireless,” said Rajendra Kumar, Executive Vice-President, HCL Infosystems.

Under this tie-up, HCL Infosystems will market Linksys home networking products through its Digilife stores across the country. HCL Digilife stores houses a complete range of digital lifestyle and entertainment products ranging from PCs and notebooks, digital cameras and music players, mobile phones, gaming consoles and office/home automation devices from world renowned brands.

In addition to this appointment, Cisco had tied up with HCL for a bundling program to benefit from its expertise in areas of IT hardware and networking. In this offer, a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router or an Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband router is being bundled with HCL Leaptops at a special price. Consumers can also opt to buy these two routers separately at a special price.
