SafeNet Launches SAM For Comprehensive Authentication

 CRN Network, July 19, 2011, 1130 hrs

SafeNet has launched SafeNet Authentication Manager (SAM), a mobile device credentialing solution that allows organizations to implement a comprehensive authentication strategy for multiple types of end point devices, including personal mobile devices. By integrating mobile device credential management into a unified authentication scheme, organizations can ensure authorized access to corporate networks and resources.

“The increased adoption of smartphones, tablets, and other consumer devices accessing corporate networks is a big security challenge,” said Lawrence Pingree, Gartner Research Director. “There is an enormous risk created by unknown devices accessing valuable corporate data. Restricting the use of these smartphones and tablets is not a realistic option given the strong consumerization of mobile devices. An appropriate method of managing this risk is through authentication capabilities that can further validate these devices for secure access.”

With SAM, organizations can also centrally manage authentication requirements for local networks, VPNs, SaaS applications, and virtualized environments.
“The security perimeter and devices that access IT have changed dramatically, forcing organizations to re-think access to networks, especially with regard to mobile devices,” said Andrew Young, Vice President - Authentication, SafeNet. “SafeNet Authentication Manager enables our customers to extend their security infrastructure to keep pace with the emergence of new endpoint devices, ensuring that data remains protected.”
