D-Link Eyeing The IP Surveillance Market

 CRN Network, December 22, 2011, 1030 hrs

D-Link is eyeing the growing IP surveillance market in India.

The company has formed a dedicated sales and solution support team, and is currently focused on verticals like government, education, retail, travel, manufacturing, etc. It is also looking at mapping partners focused on this segment.

These partners will be known as ‘Certified D-Link IP Surveillance Partners’. The company will soon roll-out training and certification programs.

Sanjay Sehgal, AVP, Enterprise Business, said, “Channel partners are already providing varied networking solutions to their customers like routing, switching, cabling etc. They can now offer IP surveillance solution to the same customer. While we will work with our existing partner base, and are also exploring tie-ups with partners and system integrators for exclusive business. D-Link will help partners to understand various aspects of surveillance solution selling. Our plan is to garner 40 percent of the market share in next couple of years, and position D-Link amongst the top three surveillance brands in the country.”

D-Link’s portfolio of IP surveillance products includes HD consumer cameras, IP66 certified high speed dome outdoor cameras with storage and software. The company is also focused on the consumer segment, and would introduce a service called as 'mydlink’ – an application for users to keep an eye on their home.

The current technology trends in surveillance and recent market reports peg the IP video surveillance equipment market globally at over $800 million in 2010-11, and over $45 million in India alone. As per industry estimates the market is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 30.2 percent approximately over the next five years and is likely to be worth over $3 billion by 2015 globally.

“IP video surveillance is steadily emerging as one of the most compelling investment areas, creating a whole new market for networking resellers and integrators. However at present a very small number of the networking partners in India are focused on surveillance segment. This can be attributed to various reasons like lack of expertise and knowhow on surveillance solutions design, implementations and other technical knowledge etc. There is an enormous opportunity to be explored, which can add to their revenues and at the same time be part of the new age technology growth,” said Tushar Sighat, CEO, D-Link India.
