Juniper Networks Launches Ex2200 Ethernet Switches

 CRN Network, February 26, 2010, 1130 hrs

Juniper Networks has announced general availability of Juniper Networks’ EX2200 Ethernet Switches. Featuring Junos software-based Layer 2 and basic Layer 3 switching capabilities, the new EX2200 line of fixed-configuration managed Ethernet switches offers a plug-and-play 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet solution.

Touted as an ideal solution for small office environments, the EX2200 switches feature low-acoustic fans, consume less than 2W per port on non-PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) models, and have a compact 10-inch depth.

“By broadening our portfolio to include the new EX2200 switches, we are able to address the entry-level Ethernet switch market with a product that can significantly trim down the cost for customers to deliver consistent IT network services regardless of customer size or location,” said Sanjay Jotshi, Director, Enterprise and Channels, India and  Saarc, Juniper Networks. “We offer a very compelling value proposition for customers looking for an entry-level, standalone solution but demand uninterrupted, uncompromised delivery of the applications that drive business processes.”

Four platform configurations are available offering 24 and 48 10/100/1000 Base-T ports, both with and without PoE. The 24 and 48-port PoE EX2200 switches support 802.3af standards-based PoE for powering networked devices such as telephones, video cameras and WLAN access points in converged networks. The EX2200 PoE switches are also capable of supporting standards-based 802.3at PoE+ for powering networked devices like multiple radio Wireless-N access points and video phones that may require more than the 15.4W available with IEEE 802.3af. The price for base configuration starts at $1,995.
