Eee PC with 9.5 hours battery life
Asus has introduced the new version Eee PC equipped with Intel Atom N 280 processor that boasts of a battery life of 9.5 hours. The 10-inch LED backlit Eee PC 1000HE with a keyboard that’s 92 percent the size of a conventional desktop keyboard comes with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 160 GB hard disk with an additional 10 GB of Eee online storage. Weighing 1.45 kg, the netbook features 1 GB DDR2 and has 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1LAN port, 2 audio ports, 1 VGA port and a multi card reader. The product owes its longer battery life to Asus’ exclusive Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) which offers users a choice between performance and power conservation modes, allowing them to make adjustments to suit their prevailing usage. It also has inbuilt 1.3 mp webcam and stereo speakers and comes with Windows XP Home. Priced at Rs 24,990, the netbook is available with Rashi Peripherals.
Dell new thin notebook Dell has launched the new Adamo brand of notebooks which it claims to be the world’s thinnest notebook. Sporting Intel Core2 Duo processors, it features 4 GB/2 GB 800 mHz DDR3 dual memory, 2 USB ports and 1 USB/eSATA combo port. With a 5-hour battery life and 13.4-inch HD display, the product is preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium edition. Users have the options of bundling the notebook with 250 GB or 500 GB external hard drive, external DVD+/-RW or Blu-ray disc drive, 8 GB USB drive and connectors and cables including DisplayPort to HDMI, DVI, and VGA. The prices of the Adamo brand notebooks start from Rs 1.2 lakh and is available with all leading stores.
Aten’s KVM switches Aten International has rolled out CL5708, 8-Port PS/2-USB LCD KVM switch and the 16-port version CL5716. The switches with two consoles (one bus) can control 8 or 16 servers. By daisy-chaining 31 additional KVM switches, 512 servers can be controlled from a single KVM console. For added security, the optional fingerprint identification system can be used to control access to the switches, and all devices under its command. For this feature, an administrator and four users can use any one of the recorded fingerprints to log in. The switches are integrated with a 17-inch or 19-inch high-resolution LCD monitor, a keyboard and a touchpad. CL5708 and CL5716 without fingerprint identification reader are priced at Rs 112,872, and Rs 131,560 respectively and are available with Cubix Micro Systems.
Plustek scanner for SMEs
Plustek has launched SmartOffice PS286, a scanner bundled with ACE Office OMR Solution, targeted at the front office usage of the education segment and small and medium enterprises (SMEs)). With OMR, the scanner reads 25 pages per minute and both pen and pencil scripts. It can convert the output data into MS Excel sheet grids without the requirement of special OMR paper input. The users can print the OMR forms through simple black and white laser printer on normal paper as per their requirement. The product comes with pre-set nine customized functions for different scanning needs. One can create searchable PDFs, scan to e-mail, or file documents by pressing a button. The software applications include DI Capture that helps users scan, import and organize their document images, Presto! PageManager offers color OCR and full-text indexing functions while ImageFolio is document management software for OCR, PDF creation or conversion to Word or Excel, maintaining color and images. Priced at Rs 25,000, the scanner is available through the company’s partners. |
