Logitech’s remote with touch screen
Logitech has unveiled the advanced version of its Harmony range of universal remote control devices featuring touch-screen and activity-based controls. Featuring a 2.2-inch full-color touch screen, the universal remote not only controls home entertainment devices like DVD players, TV and music system but also many household appliances including washing machines and air conditions having infrared receivers. The remote also tracks the power state and input setting of various components it controls. It also has interactive on-screen help if anything interferes with an IR command. With a curved design, it comes in a piano black top, silver base with black buttons and white backlighting. Distributed by Rashi Peripherals, Harmony One is priced at Rs 18,495 with a warranty of 2 years.
Transcend introduces 64GB SSD
Transcend has introduced 64GB SLC 2.5-inch Solid State Disk (SSD) available in both SATA and IDE versions. Using Nand flash memory, SSDs have no moving parts thereby preventing mechanical failures that might result from shocks, vibration and heat. It also has low power consumption and fast data transfer speed. The device is ROHS-compliant and offers read/write speeds up to 119MB and 64MB per second respectively. It comes with a 44-pin male connector. In addition, the SLC has an integrated error correction code that ensures efficient data transfer by increasing system integrity. The disk comes with a built-in wear leveling technology that provides increased storage lifespan and data-retention durability even after prolonged usage. Priced at Rs 33,000 onwards and backed by a two-year warranty the new Transcend SSD is available through distributors Supertron Electronics and Mediaman Infotech.
Genius’ 2.1 speaker system
Genius has introduced stereo 3-piece wood speaker system–Genius SW-HF2.1 1200 with two satellites plus subwoofer that delivers a total of 30 watts pure RMS output power—subwoofer delivers 12 watts and satellite speakers delivers 9 watts. It features a solid wood Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) board cabinet subwoofer with a 5.25-inch long-throw driver for bass power and two wood satellite speakers, each with a 3-inch drive. The MDF cabinets are used basically for deep bass and sound enhancements. The control panel on the right side of the subwoofer has built-in controls for volume, bass and treble. All the three controls on the right side of the subwoofer help in easy operation of the systems. The grey and silver color design matches the LCD panel. These speakers are for music, movie or gaming. Priced at Rs 2,235, the speaker system is available through authorized partners.
Acer delivers Aspire One
Acer India has launched ultra mobile computer (Netbook) based on Intel’s atom processor called Aspire One. With a 8.9-inch wide screen, the Netbook weighs less than one kilo, and has a battery life of up to 3 hours. Available in five colors—sapphire blue, pink, brown, black and white—it features 1GB RAM, 8GB solid state disk, 5-in-1 card reader, 1.6GHz Atom N270 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. Aspire One is available pre-loaded with Linpus Linux Lite and Windows XP Home, and also comes bundled with a mail software suite that helps manage up to six email accounts with a single application interface, including office accounts and a messenger that allows users to simultaneously access Skype, Microsoft Messenger and other instant messaging services. The software can be used with the integrated video camera for instant video-chats and video conferences. Aspire One with Windows XP is priced at Rs 21,999 and that with Linux costs Rs 19,999 and carries standard warranty. |
