Red Hat India is partnering with a number of Indian ISVs to promote the JBoss application server and middleware portfolio. The company is also thinking of launching India-specific productized services to support JBoss partners. “With the global slowdown, more enterprises are opting for open source solutions, and we see huge potential in India with the kind of awareness that Indian ISVs and our partners have about the platform,” said Bruno Georges, Middleware Solutions Director, Red Hat Asia Pacific. Red Hat India current engages with around 110 partners, mainly from the ISV/solutions provider space. “There is an active community building solutions on our platform. Our current goal is to educate them on the future roadmap of our platform, and empower them with the right support so that they can go to market with our solutions,” Georges stated. Red Hat India is also trying to help the Indian systems integrator (SI) work closely with the ISV community. “On the JBoss platform there are a number of readymade solutions which the partner community can offer to their customer base. We are trying to get the ISVs to work with the SIs,” informed Nandu Pradhan, President and Managing Director, Red Hat India. Red Hat’s revenues from JBoss are through subscription for services and support, similar to their core Linux application revenues. For example, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform’s subscription services offer practically all the support needed to deploy and host Java-based Web applications and services. “We offer a number of services depending on the specific needs of the customer, and the costs will vary depending on the nature and criticality of the support required,” explained Georges. “Today, there are more than 50 products and add-ons on the JBoss platform, and we configure our services depending on the customer’s needs.” Added Pradhan, “We are soon going to launch specific subscription packages for the Indian market depending on the feedback from partners and customers.” |
