Geonet has a total of 12 retail outlets, out of which six are HP exclusive retail stores and six are multi-brand outlets in Mumbai,Thane and Vashi.
The company attributed its growth to the addition of a new store in Mumbai during the year, its entry into post-sales services, and its partnership with Dell. “The store we opened in Mumbai is located in a mall which ensured a 10 percent increase in revenues. We ventured into post-sales servicesbecause it is the only way to prevent customers from moving to LFRs. We have seen a lot of repeat customers due to the new service we added,” said Bimal Kumar Singh, the CEO of Geonet IT Mall. The tie-up with Dell contributed to a 10 percent increase in sales.

With monthly average sales of 500 notebooks and 300 desktops during the last fiscal, Geonet greatly benefited from partnering with shopping Web sites.“With the increase in Internet penetration, we thought it was the right time to take up online marketing. After registering with online shopping sites we have witnessed a 5 percent increase in enquiries. The majority of people who browse the Internet are tech-savvy users who are brandconscious and are looking for a good deal. Hence, if the right offer is made, the conversion ratio is higher,” explained Singh.
The last fiscal saw the company deploy CRM which has helped it to improve its lead conversion and also do more effective promotions and advertising based on analyses of the buying patterns of customers. “It’s made our marketing more effective, and has provided us greater insights about customers and even enquiries,” Singh stated. “Based on the demographics captured, we now do localized promotions and campaigns, and this has increased business.”
Singh expects to post a turnover of over Rs 50 crore in the current fiscal. “We plan to add six more stores across Mumbai, Thane and Vashi by the end of 2009. Each of these stores will be around 350 sq ft, and will stock our entire range of products and brands.
We also plan to expand to cities such as Pune, Nashik, Patna and Ranchi by 2010,” added Singh. Geonet is also looking to venture into sub-distribution in the current fiscal.
