Riverbed to have more partners

 By K R Nambiar

Riverbed plans to expand its network of partners across the country. Recently, the WAN optimization specialist partnered with HP Procurve to sell its products and solutions through Procurve’s base of partners.

“In 2009, our focus is clearly to expand our partner base and invest in training them. Partnering with HP Procurve is strategic to our business because it not only gives us a strong product tie-in with their networking products but also access to the large base of HP enterprise partners,” explained Vivek Singh, Riverbed’s Regional Director for India.
The company expects enterprises to increasingly invest in IT consolidation and virtualization despite the slowdown.
Robert Healy, Marketing Evangelist, Asia Pacific and Japan, Riverbed said, “The potential offered by customers for WAN optimization solutions in India is huge. Quality bandwidth is at a premium in the country. Many remote and branch offices are unable to use applications effectively from a data center. Wireless connections always suffer from higher latency connections than wired connections. In the Indian market, where most mobile users have low bandwidth (CDMA) and high latency connections, we have the best solution for such requirements.”
To train partners, the company recently tied up with a third-party provider for training and certification. “Apart from the partner training program, we have a portal that supplies all the relevant educational materials, full-day orientation courses, Webcasts, newsletters and demos,” elaborated Singh. “Our commitment to partner education has now been further enhanced with the engagement of third-party vendor imparting specialized training programs.”
