Trend Micro Gets Aggressive

By Sharmee Roy, CRN, June 30 2009, 1500 hrs

Security vendor, Trend Micro has chalked out plans for its consumer business and enterprise security solutions, and plans to roll out its managed security services. To this end, the company has embarked on a channel expansion plan for its consumer and enterprise business.

For the consumer business, the company has initiated a 25-city roadshow to enroll resellers in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

Said Amit Nath, Country Manager, Trend Micro, “Our aim is to have 400 resellers push our consumer range. We will train them in selling techniques and the value proposition of our products. The consumer business is big for us across the world; we want to make it big in India as well.”

The company will also add three new sub-distributors to its existing list of five. Nath explained, “Our model on the consumer side of the business includes national distributors followed by sub-distributors. We expect 10 percent of our revenues to come from the consumer business.”

On the enterprise side, the company will appoint partners under its Affinity partner program which has three categories: AffinityOne,  AffinityPlus and Affinity. “Currently we have seven systems integrators (SIs) as AffinityOne partners, 20 security VARs in AffinityPlus and around 300 resellers in the Affinity category. We are going to bring five new partners in the SI category, while in the VAR category we will add 15,” said Nath.
