Caught red-handed changing MRP stickers

A top MNC PC manufacturer was recently caught red-handed by a reseller in Tamil Nadu while changing the MRP sticker. According to the reseller, who spoke to Shadow on condition of anonymity, a sales executive of the PC vendor came to the reseller’s warehouse and changed the MRP sticker on a particular series of notebook, hiking the price from Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000.

When the reseller sought clarification from the local manager, he was told that the earlier MRP tags were erroneously printed. “They told me that the price of the notebook is Rs 35,000 but was erroneously printed as Rs 30,000 on the MRP sticker. Not convinced by the response I have shot off a mail to the CEO of the company and have also written to Confed-ITA,” said the reseller.

When contacted, a Confed-ITA committee member said, “We have also received complaints from other members. We have sought clarification from the PC vendor and only then we will be able to comment on the matter.”

Only last month a reseller had accused Dell of selling PCs at prices higher than the MRP.
