Momentum Infocare posted a 50 percent growth to achieve a turnover of Rs 18.5 crore in FY 2007-08. Sanjay Agarwal, Director, Momentum Infocare, attributed the growth to additions of new security products and solutions, some significantly large data center and virtualization project wins, and deep-selling among existing customers. The company added 29 new customers which contributed up to 36 percent to its total topline. It added Websense and RSA products to its kitty. “Two years back we were purely in the software resale and solutions space. In two years, we have worked hard to build our expertise in providing integrated solutions which is paying off,” said Agarwal. The deal, sized at Rs 1.1 crore, required deploying Citrix Presentation Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Sonicwall UTM, HP Thin Clients and Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Trend Micro AV. Another project was for Delhi International Airport to provide remote application delivery with Citrix Presentation Server and SSL VPN. A Microsoft and Citrix Gold partner, Momentum deployed a complete data center for Era Infrastructure. Last year, the company set up a six-member pre-sales team. “The team’s main responsibility is to closely interact with clients, understand their business and IT needs and set up demo solutions or POCs at customer site. This helped us a lot in converting leads into projects and deep-selling advanced solutions to existing customers,” opined Agarwal. ISO 9001:2000 certified, Momentum deployed an online call logging system on top of its CRM. We have automated the process of call logging. The beta version of this system is online now, and the full version will be up this July. Through this solution, customer can not only monitor the status of his complaint but he can also monitor the SLAs effectively and seamlessly,” explained Agarwal. In the current fiscal, Momentum expects to clock a 50 percent growth. Focus areas for growth include data centre and virtualization, storage and ILM, managed security, network monitoring and application access. “We are well entrenched in the North. Our next target is Mumbai and we are in the process of starting an office soon. In terms of verticals, manufacturing, retail, construction and travel and tourism are the ones we are very bullish about,” concluded Agarwal.

Having established its niche in the education and R&D verticals, the company bagged many prestigious projects during the last fiscal. Comprehensive deployed Rs 50 lakh project of setting up the entire central computing facility at Jalpaiguri Engineering College, North Bengal, which involved HP Integrity servers running HP-UX and Red Hat Linux along with 64-bit Windows. The solution included virtualization of servers for multiple users and consolidated SAN storage for applications. The focus towards providing complete offering to customer becomes growth driver for Comprehensive. Jha stated, “We have maintained our image as a complete IT infrastructure solution provider. The categories which have delivered good growth for our business last financial year are virtualization, blade servers and lotus notes as well.” The company bagged a project for setting up the data center at the North Eastern hill University, Meghalaya. The deal sized at Rs 50 lakh included deployment of HP Blade servers in Red Hat Linux environment running IBM Lotus Notes and CA Secure Content Manager. Another very large deal it cracked toward the end of the last fiscal was worth Rs 2 crore for setting up a grid infrastructure node for both computing and storage at a premier R&D center. “From the beginning our effort was to create a niche for us. As a result today we are recognized as a specialist in the education sector. Last year our focus was on ensuring higher profitability and to achieve that we focused on emerging technology solutions like data center and virtualization. IBM Lotus Notes was a significant addition to our portfolio last year which helped bag some large wins," said Akhil Ranjan Jha, CEO, Comprehensive Consultancy. The company also added Dell, Liebert power solutions and Oracle to its portfolio during the year. Last year the company introduced the concept of plotting customer satisfaction through a structured survey. "Earlier we used to take customer feedback on an informal basis. But this structure survey not only gave us a concrete idea of how our customers felt about us but also provided insights into their pain points and IT investment plans," added Jha. Buoyed by the demand in education sector, Jha expects the company to double revenues during the fiscal. It plans to enhance skill-sets in desktop and application virtualization and provide network management services. It plans to venture into Bangladesh and Bhutan to target the IT opportunities in the education and R&D sector.

The year was significant for Shro as it augmented its solutions provision capabilities across multiple domains like virtualization by becoming a Gold partner of VMware, and also Microsoft to focus on Share Point and unified communications solutions. “Last year saw us make a significant shift from corporate reselling to solutions provision and system integration. We made a concerted effort to build capabilities in providing data center and virtualization services and collaboration solutions,” said Anirudh Shrotriya, CEO, Shro Systems. In the process, Shro bagged some large projects to deploy data centers and virtualizations. It bagged a project worth Rs 1 crore from an auto manufacturing company to transform their horizontal hardware farm into smart virtual infrastructure. It set up a fully functional design center for an auto company for a project value of Rs 3 crore. Another significant deployment included setting up a virtualized environment for a chain of Honda showrooms. It also set up HP Proof of Concept centre, the first in western India and only the second in the country. “The POC is a place where customers can come and experience live solutions. This has increased the pace of customer buying decisions,” added Shrotriya. The company has automated its CRM using HP Advanced Customer Management solution which it claims has helped it reduce the turnaround time and repeat calls for customer support issues. Shro also believes in using technology to the fullest within the organization and hence has virtualized its entire IT infrastructure. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in the calendar 2008, Shro has launched a year-long marketing campaign to strengthen its brand image and upped its marketing spend to 3 percent of the total turnover. The company launched an innovative campaign—Pizza in 20 minutes, HP server from Shro in 60 minutes—which it claims has helped them differentiate from competition. It plans to boost its solutions practice and has hired a team to focus on vertical-specific solutions. “We have hired a team of nine headed by an industry veteran to build our application solutions practice. We plan to provide vertifical-specific solutions to pharma, real estate and aviation and education verticals. We have tied up with leading CAD/CAM and ERP companies for the same,” informed Shrotriya.

“The growth can be attributed to our focus on internal processes, deep-selling to existing customers, and quicker response to their needs. We shifted from a vendor-centric to a customer-centric approach which has paid rich dividends,” explained B Mukundh, CEO, Mukesh Infoserve. The company added some large customers to its clientele who contributed almost 25 percent to the revenues. One of the new clients acquired, Amararaja Batteries, chose to the company to consolidate its IT infrastructure and make it SAP-ready. The project, worth Rs 1.3 crore, saw Mukesh Infoserve implement HP Blade servers and SAN providing hardware and application virtualization using VMware. An HP-preferred partner and VMware Gold partner, Mukesh bagged another Rs 1 crore project from Royal Sun Alliance to consolidate and virtualize IT storage. Mukesh Infoserve also landed with a the project to revamp the entire network infrastructure of all ITC Group of hotels. The company signed up with Symantec, Nortel and SAP during the year. It was also appointed ASP for APC enterprise range of products. “In terms of services, we entered the application availability space. We invested in certifying our resources to provide application deployment and management on platforms as varied as HP Unix, Windows and Linux. We set up a team specialized in deployment of SAP B1 and BI. The team is certified not just for ERP deployment but also trained to provide business process engineering consultancy and in training customers,” said Mukundh. The company also achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification for the process of procurement, sales and support and assembly of computers. It deployed SAP B1 within the company. “With a pool of SAP consultants, its logical to deploy it internally before we take it to our customers in a big way,” reasoned Mukundh. Mukundh is bullish about sustaining the high growth that the company has achieved during the last two years. “We expect to grow by at least 50 percent this year. Growth will come from addition of new solutions, geographical expansion and focus on new industry micro verticals,” he added. The company is on the verge of setting up a branch in Coimbatore and Pune and Gurgaon will follow soon. The company plans to add more networking and security products in the UTM and WAN optimization space. |
