EMC Buys Stake In Redington Subsidiary

  CRN Network, February 6, 2012, 1500 hrs

EMC India has picked up an undisclosed stake in Cadensworth, a wholly owned subsidiary of Redington.

As a part of this strategic relationship, Cadensworth will sell only EMC information infrastructure technology and solutions and may sell complementary and non-competing product lines, solutions and services.

“Earlier this year, EMC announced its intent to focus on the SMB and mid-size segments in India through a targeted product and channel approach. We are building out our channel to address this fast growing and new market opportunity and are keen to leverage Cadensworth’s market reach and solutions selling ability. We are pleased to have Redington’s confidence in EMC and look forward to a mutually successful relationship,” said Steve Leonard, President, EMC, Asia Pacific and Japan.

While Cadensworth will distribute a wide range of EMC products, it will initially focus on the the storage-vendor’s VNX family, which was launched earlier this year. The VNX range is a unified storage platform that combines EMC’s CLARiiON SAN systems and Celerra NAS systems into a single offering optimized for virtualized IT environments. The VNX Family consists of two product series: the VNX series and VNXe series.

“Through this focused relationship, Cadensworth aims to leverage EMC’s technology in the fast growing mid-size and SMB segments in India, and EMC aims to penetrate deeper into tier-3 and tier-4 cities. There is a growing demand for information infrastructure products and solutions such as storage, archival, backup, recovery, security, virtualization, and others from India’s mid-size and SMB segments,” said M Raghunandan, Director, Cadensworth India.
