“Steve Waugh is my role model”

In his career spanning 14 years, Surajit Sen, Director, Channels, Marketing and Alliances, NetApp India, has managed various roles in sales, product management and channel management. Prior to NetApp, Sen worked with Wipro Infotech and HCL Infosystems.

If not in the IT industry: I would have been in Journalism. It is a responsible, challenging and intellectually stimulating profession that has the power to influence the society.

Biggest passion: Books. I am a voracious reader. Cooking is another passion. I love to experiment with various Indian cuisines.

Behind the wheels: I drive a Honda Civic and my dream vehicle is BMW 7.

Gadgets I can’t live without: Nokia E75 phone and my Lenovo X200 laptop.

Role model: I admire Steve Waugh for his never-say-die attitude and great leadership skills.

Weekends are for: I travel extensively for work throughout the week, so weekends are always a family affair.

Favorite holiday destination: Rome. You could be walking down a narrow non-descript lane and stumble upon a brilliant piece of art. It is also one of the most romantic places in the world.

Hate the most: People who lie.

Wildest thing I’ve ever done: During college, I scaled a four-storey building without any climbing gear.

Thing I most want to do in life: Too many things on my list.

Favorite sport and sportsperson: Cricket and Steve Waugh.

If I became the Prime Minister: I would make politicians accountable for their actions or inaction.

Celebrity I’d like to spend a day with: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen. I find his writings extremely intriguing.

Deepest and darkest fear: The fear of failure.
