Trends that will Drive Demand for Printing Solutions

According to a recent report by Gartner, “Actively managing office printing can lead to a reduction of 10-30 percent in recurring spending on document output.” Companies are looking for immediate ways to reduce capital investments and cut operating costs. In this scenario, the large enterprise segment is seeing the following trends in the office printing space.
Focus on optimizing printing expenditure. According to Gartner, printing takes up as much as 1-3 percent of a company’s revenues. Till recently, many organizations ignored costs related to their imaging and printing environment. But today, enterprises are paying attention to the money spent on this account, and how this expenditure can be optimized.
Workflow improvement. Enterprises today are witnessing an upward surge in their digital content, but still need to manage their paper processes. At the same time, there are regulatory actions driving new printing and storage requirements. To tackle both effectively, companies are adopting document management options that help them streamline paper-intensive processes using digital tools for greater overall efficiency. They are also looking at implementing end-to-end solutions for greater security, electronic document compliance, and cost-effective production of marketing materials.
Shift from capex to opex. Organizations/industry verticals which are printing-intensive—such as banks, telcos and the education sector—are now shifting from capex to opex to optimize IT costs. Most of these companies are outsourcing their imaging and printing needs so that they can focus on their core business offerings.
Going green. With the growing adoption of green IT in order to save costs and energy, companies are paying more attention to the products and services being used, and are focusing on cost-per-page and energy savings.
Adoption of color in the office. Businesses today view color in the office as a necessity, not a luxury. Rising print speeds and falling costs have made color printing an integral part of successful businesses. Impressive proposals, professional sales presentations and clear reports deliver measurable results, and positively impact the bottom-line.
Wireless printing. The ability to unshackle the printer and allow it to link wirelessly with the PC is a step forward in user friendliness that the printer industry increasingly provides.
