Value-added distributor (VAD) Virtual Netcomm, which had in 2008 entered into a joint venture (JV) with M.Tech India, the Indian subsidiary of a Chinese VAD, has called off the JV and decided to go solo.
Following this, the company has hired Sanjai Bosco as the President for Distribution Business. Bosco was earlier the Country Manager for another VAD, Transition Systems India. The distributor is also in the process of expanding its portfolio and beefing up its operations.
“The JV with M.Tech didn’t work out due to cultural issues, hence we called it off amicably in January,” explained Bosco. “As a result, M.Tech India and Virtual Netcomm are now two separate entities. Currently, our portfolio includes Blue Coat for which we have been an exclusive distributor for long, Palo Alto Networks for its firewall security, and Oversi for its content delivery and caching solutions. We are already in talks with vendors in the virtual storage and videoconferencing solutions space, and are on the verge of finalizing distribution agreements. We also plan to add WAN optimization and application acceleration products in addition to Blue Coat.”
Virtual Netcomm is also strengthening its operations in keeping with its portfolio expansion plans. The company has hired 25 new people since February, and plans to add a few more in the coming months, mainly for pre-sales. “We are ramping up our operations by getting more people onboard and also by expanding our branch network. Recently we added our Kolkata branch to our existing offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad,” informed Bosco.
The distributor is also planning to launch a new partner engagement program in order to provide enhanced training, pre-sales, incentives and sales and business planning tools. |
