ASUS introduces the ultra portable U1F notebook  
ASUS has launched the U1F notebook targeting the elite technology user. This is a tailor-made, compact 11.1” widescreen U1F with exterior piano painted LCD cover, stainless contour and carbon fiber alloy.
Based on the latest Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology, Windows Vista operating system and exclusive ASUS innovations, the U1F offers a dynamic computing experience with blistering speed.

The U1F screen adopts a special LED backlight panel that is half the width of and 1/3 lighter than the traditional LCD panel. Wireless connectivity of the U1F is extensive with built-in WLAN 802.11 a/b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 enhanced data rate. The Embedded Trusted Protection Module hardware solution prevents security threats.

Priced at Rs 1,35,000, this notebook also features Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (1.06G) CPU, 100 GB HDD + TPM, 1.5 GB DDR II, 667 MHz RAM, external DVD super-multi drive, Intel 945GM chipset, 128 MB integrated VRAM, 0.35 M webcam + fingerprint reader.

Along with the above features buyers get a Bluetooth mouse, protection bag, ASUS gift box, ASUS ultra portable wireless access point (limited offer), 3-cell battery pack, and 8-in-1 card reader.

 

 

Quantum introduces Scalar 50 tape library 
Quantum has announced the new Scalar 50, an intuitive entry-level tape library designed for small- to-medium-sized storage environments. The Scalar 50 is the latest offering in its tape automation portfolio which also includes the Scalar i2000 and Scalar i500 intelligent library platforms.

This product accommodates data growth by scaling from 38 slots to 76 slots simply by adding a module. Designed for integration with disk systems, this library also supports disk-to-disk-to-tape data protection strategies, and leverages Quantum’s StorageCare Vision data management and reporting solution.
It operates in direct-attach and SAN environments, and offers advanced library functionality such as partitioning, multiple drive types, and FC, iSCSI, SAS and SCSI interfaces.

Once the tape library is online, Quantum’s StorageCare Guardian provides proactive monitoring and integrated RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) notification to deliver more reliable backups and faster resolution time.

The Scalar 50 tape library is available through Quantum and its network of channel and distribution partners. Pricing starts at Rs 8,000 MSRP.

 

Netgear launches ReadyNAS RND4425   
Netgear Technologies India has introduced the Netgear ReadyNAS RND4425-100EUS NV+ X-RAID 1TB  4 X 250GB HDD in a small 8-inch high desktop design for home offices, small businesses and workgroups.
The product has Raid supporting hardware, accelerated RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) levels 0, 1, 5, and ReadyNAS’ own X-RAID technology. ReadyNAS also offers low power consumption and a special energy-saving mode that allows you to automate startup and shutdown.

The other specification of the new RND4425 is its IT3107 network storage processor with 4 serial ATA channels also compatible with SATA and SATA IIHDD. It has hot swappable and lock trays, LCD display, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 256 MB PC2700 DDR-SDREAM SO-DIMM, and is embedded with 64 MB flash memory for OS which supports Windows, Mac, Linux/Unix clients. It has Harware X-RAID single volume auto expansion with volume management and network file services with media streaming of UPnP AV and SlimServer, and is network DVD player compatible and Windows MCE compatible.

One of the most important physical feature of RND4425 is that it has a Kensington lock security hole with an easy-carry handle and weighs around 4.6 kg without disks. The other optional spares available with the new RND4425 are lockable disk tray, 92 mm chassis fan and AC power supply.

It is available with a 3-year hardware warranty, from Rashi Peripherals and Cyberstar Infocom, at Rs 80,000.

 

 

IDLDPL launches Parrot Party Bluetooth speaker system     
IDLDPL has unveiled 3Watt Bluetooth speakers that stream in music from any Bluetooth-compatible source. They are 9” long and weigh 624 grams. The speaker system plays music non-stop for four hours. With its Class-D amplifier and two wide-band speakers, the Parrot Party provides sound quality with clear and detailed acoustics. Two audio effects created by Parrot will thrill users: the first effect is stereo widening which broadens the music to fill a room; the second effect is virtual super bass which reinforces the bass frequencies. There is a built-in rechargeable battery. Once the battery goes off, just put the speaks into charging and enjoy uninterrupted music for another four hours.

The Parrot Party Bluetooth speaker system can gel with every Bluetooth-enabled streaming device be it cell phone, PC, MP3 or CD player. You need not have to install special software to send your play list to the Party Bluetooth speaker wirelessly from any Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP) source.

The Parrot Party also has a line-in input, which enables the system to play music from any analog music device such as a CD player, standard MP3 player, or MD recorder. Parrot Party automatically detects the music source whether it’s Bluetooth or line-in.
