Nityanand Shetty, MD, Essen Vision shares insights into the company’s focus on the security domain and how it has become the preferred security partner for the customers

Essen Vision was incorporated when the anti-virus industry was in its nascent phase. While the company began its journey with anti-virus products like Dr. Solomons and F-Prot, it struggled to find foothold in the market proliferated with big names.

However, as the industry grew and the country progressed towards privatization and digitization, compliance became essential for large organizations and authorities. This played a key role in driving business towards the security industry. Essen Vision has scaled itself to venture into multiple areas of application security, data security, consulting, SOC implementation and cyber security services. This was a big breakthrough for the company, which gave it the confidence to penetrate into the banking sector and thereon, into the corporate world.

Best business practices

“We believe the ability to constantly reinvent ourselves with the dynamics of time and technology and keeping pace has helped us keep us ahead of the crowd. At Essen Vision, we were clear from our inception that we will work with our strengths and would not dilute the essence of our establishment. While we limited the area of our expertise, selected niche products, we added dimensions and depth to our team,” says Shetty.

The company never ventured into areas which were not part of the security domain. Emphasis on training, information, networking with the peers ensured it was always updated on the best practices, solutions and skill training. Besides, Essen Vision has always believed in specialization and the entire company has been conceived keeping the same in mind. Having been in the industry for two and half decades, Essen Vision is one of the well-known network security firms in India.

He further states, “Building a strong core is what every organization aspires to have. Essen Vision has some strong pillars in people in sales, support, and services, which ensure that internally the team that follows gets the right inspiration and training to always be a step ahead in the market.”

Growth story

The last one year has seen the company improving its ground in the cybersecurity space with a lot of focus towards Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) and SIEMs. “With the media coming out full throttle on WannaCry ransomware, every client today is aware of ransomware threats. The message towards security against zero day attacks is reaching all kinds of businesses, big and small therefore contributing to newer areas of business against the traditional modes of security,” he points out.

“While we believe each milestone at every stage in this fast paced industry kept us on our toes, the success in last few years has been the culmination of all that we have strived for through the years,” adds Shetty.

The company has setup a focused team, divided between a Product Division and a Professional Services Division. It has partnered with OEM’s such as Mcafee, Symantec, Forcepoint, Radware, Checkpoint, and Sonicwall among others, which have product lines catering to the information security space. Besides the traditional network security products, the company specializes in Data Leakage Prevention, Log Co-relation, Cloud Security, and Remote Infrastructure Management.

“Our major clients are among the largest private and co-operative banks, private insurance companies, some of the largest ITeS , software and pharmaceutical companies. Though we are completely based out of Mumbai, support is provided across India. And our services division caters to companies throughout the world,” asserts Shetty.

Essen Vision today is among the few security companies in India who is a Professional Services Partner with the OEM’s and major security provider, implementing the latest SIEM and cybersecurity solutions not only across India but also across EMEA, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The company has completed implementations across DLP for all the top 3 DLP providers in the country and are among the few to have a strong consulting team backing its DLP implementations.

Road ahead

“One of the major initiatives that we have taken is to establish the Professional Services division, wherein we offer our domain expertise to a lot of vendors and major security partners.
