Ranjan Chopra, Managing Director, Team Computers shares the mantra behind his company’s success and the efforts being put to take the company global
Tell us about your journey as an IT solution provider?
We started out as a break fix service provider repairing Apple Mac and laser printers. We then moved on to AMC’s- maintenance contracts, systems integration, analytics and eventually an apps provider. While we started from Delhi, for many years we have been a national systems integrator with about 1500 people and looking forward to touching a 1000 crore turnover.
What all best practices should be followed by a solution provider to become one of the leaders in the industry?
Looking at the evolving customer needs and with technology changing all the time at a rapid pace, we need to be at least two steps ahead. Identify trends early and differentiate between fads. We ensure to hire right talent and for that we need to take risks, invest in the business, technology and developing people even if we are scared some of them may leave us.
Stay profitable always. Finish projects quickly and collect fast so that payments can be done in time. And all these require efforts. This needs to be drilled deep within all team members.
How has been the company’s growth in the last couple of years?
Our top line has been growing at a rate of 30-40 percent every year. Revenue including direct billing to customers was 530+ corer in FY’15-16 and 650+ crore in FY’16-17 respectively. We are looking to close at 1000 crore this fiscal year.
Tell us about your business operations like areas of expertise, major clients, vertical focus, and number of locations?
We have a deep focus on insurance and auto verticals along with BFSI. We are leaders in analytics and have also rolled out large infrastructure projects. In fact, in analytics, we have been a step ahead of the curve. Currently, we operate from all major metros – Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jaipur and NCR.
What have been your major achievements / projects in the last couple of years?
By working in close association with C-DOT, we have designed, architected and built large data centers for government of India, which are strategic and of national importance. We are mobility partners for large enterprises spanning across verticals such as auto, BFSI, FMCG, pharma, and healthcare domain. Our MPS initiative has witnessed all round wins in large enterprises such as HDB Financials, Dalmia Group, Blue Dart, Shalimar Paints, COLT India and Dainik Bhaskar to name a few.
Our advanced analytics expertise, coupled with industry knowledge has helped clients harness the power of their data to solve some of their complex business challenges, reinvent their business and expand into newer markets. Over the last 3 years, we have emerged as number one partner for Google in providing enterprises services.
What all business innovations you have done to stay ahead of your peers in the industry?
We have rolled out an automated order to cash business process, while governing the business with dashboards and rolling out mobile apps so that we can lay out the foundations for a company which can cater to aspirations of millennial.
How are you helping your customers in their digital transformation journey?
Our mobility initiative, as part of the digital transformation drive, has helped customers transform their way of doing business. We are applying mobility in the domain of sales, production environment, shop floor, retail outlets, etc. in order to enhance sales, efficiency and productivity across industries.
What’s your future road map in terms major projects in the pipeline, expansion plans, looking at the global market?
Robotics and automation- as part of our managed services delivery will be the key differentiator. This will be one area where we are and will continue to invest heavily going forward, in line with global trends. We are building mobility apps to comprehend our overall leadership in the mobility domain.
