Today, organisations are relying on accurate and fast data to make quick business decisions that could well define the course of their growth in the new decade. They are increasingly turning to data management experts to streamline their data management and accelerate the insights-to-decisions cycle, so they can focus better on their core business. On its part, Master data management (MDM) expert PiLog is working with organizations across to help them manage data better and extract more value for the business. Imad Syed, Group CIO, PiLog Group shares how PiLOg is turning companies into data-smart in the digital economy

Why do organizations need to become more data-smart in the digital economy?

Many organizations find it challenging to extract more value from their data. One reason for this is they are constantly trying to tackle the twin issues of: (a) ever-growing data, while (b) struggling to extract meaningful insights quickly, at scale, from their data troves. Therefore, in the digital economy, the need to become data-smart has become a prerequisite for business success. Ensuring data democratization and easy data exchange/movement within the organization can help organizations put their data to better business use and drive increased profitability. By becoming data-smart, organizations are able to not only improve the quality and speed of business decisions, they are also able to drive continuous value realization from better process management.

What’s the significance of PiLog’s strategic partnership with Oracle?

Our strategic partnership with Oracle is over a decade old and continues to grow stronger with each passing year. We have jointly delivered many implementations and integrations with Oracle EBS & Oracle Fusion Cloud for our customers and will be helping customers manage integration better via Oracle Cloud Integration service. One of our core products, for example – the PiLog Data Quality HUB – runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)  OCI, helping customers take advantage of our innovation via cloud.

We selected OCI for its superior security architecture, ease of compliance with respect to data residency and regulatory requirements across the world, extreme performance and auto-scaling capabilities. We have also benefited from Oracle’s dedicated support and automatic upgrades.  We are using a number of PaaS offerings which include compute and database cloud services. We also use various security features offered by OCI to protect our applications.

Which OCI services are you planning to use over the next 12 months? How do you go around data economics? How is Oracle helping you on this front?

We are testing our application to use Oracle Integration Cloud service to help customers seamlessly integrate/access Oracle’s Fusion and Oracle EBS instances. We aim to use more security features like VPN and SSO Services. We are also considering Oracle MySQL testing and development services. A core focus area for PiLog has been helping organizations become data-smart. One of our flagship offerings is the PiLog Data Quality HUB – essentially our data and analytics suite. This offering has been built around Oracle Database and technologies, and we are delivering this to customers as a pay-per-use cloud service running on OCI.

Can you share some best practices for companies that can leverage the cloud to the fullest?

At a broader level, Cloud, when used smartly, can help organizations achieve better quality, speed and economics of innovation. When it comes to data management with cloud, it’s important to ensure there’s data standardization. Structuring and having the right quality of data will make a big difference in your digital and process transformation initiatives. It is also key to facilitate easy, but secure movement of data between relevant parties, so there is less duplication of efforts across analytics and decision making across different departments. A proper integration process is the key for this.

Can you give us an idea of PiLog’s digital innovation roadmap and growth plans for the next 12 months?

Our digital innovation journey is closely aligned to our corporate business strategies. We will continue to focus on strengthening our core data management suite, add more intelligent and predictive analytics capabilities, and infuse more and more automation powered by AI/ML, while embracing RPA etc.
