Samir Dhingra, CEO, NetSpider Infotech talks about the company’s expertise in document digitization and imaging domain and how this niche focus has helped it bag large scale projects
Q. Tell us about your journey as an IT solution provider?
Our journey began in 1999 and we have strived hard to make NetSpider the preferred choice for government projects involving OCR (optical character recognition), scanning, and various document management solutions. The government sector was the easiest to approach owing to their bulky archive of documents. RBI was amongst the first few clients we acquired.
The completion of our first project, Sarvshiksha Abhiyan, helped us receive the prestigious Prime Ministers’ award for operational excellence. Since then, we have competed over 120 projects and continuing to do so even today. Currently, we are executing Asia’s largest project of scanning more than 80 crore documents for the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, and helping them launch a portal for Mumbai citizens to provide easy access to these documents.
Q. How has been the growth of the company in the recent times?
Since 2014, after having acquired the project with Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and then another with Banaras Hindu University, we have gained an accelerated momentum. We have grown by leaps and bounds both in terms of revenue as well as resources.
Executing large scale of projects in document digitization and imaging domain are our areas of expertise. Besides, we are also exclusive distributor for scanners from Microbox, Quidenus, Scantron and Microfom among others. We have taken the lead in bringing DMS solution and software from the likes of Gama System and Filero to India.
In all these years, we have had the privilege of working with prestigious clients like Kerela Public Service Commission, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Banaras Hindu University, Ministry of Defence, and Tata Institute of Social Sciences to name a few.
Q. What has been your ‘success mantra’?
It has taken a lot of effort combined with hardwork to reach to a point where we are currently. I have been lucky that my family has stood by me and supported through thick and thin. Besides, I have been backed by a dedicated team without whom this journey would have been slow and tough. Most importantly, our network of international partners have contributed towards our success.
Q. What all business innovations you have done to stay ahead of your peers in the industry?
We have created a supply chain workflow that is used diligently in our projects. Adding to it, we have developed several software to reduce manual intervention and errors. These software are very specific to bring out the best in our line of business. Last but not the least, we have one of the best employee retention rate in the industry. Above all, I try to get hands on experience on all stages of the projects that is executed by the company.
Q. What sort of opportunities do new technologies like IoT and Artificial Intelligence bring for a solution provider?
We are closely looking at the trend and growth of IoT and Artificial Intelligence in various markets. In fact, we are already in talks with a few international players, looking to implement their solutions internally, test and then take them to the market.
Q. As a leading IT solution provider, how are you helping your customers in their digital transformation journey?
Netspider would in all probability be India’s first company to follow the Digital India initiative. We not only digitize documents but also give the customers an insight into the benefits of technology. We conduct exhaustive training for the customers, wherein they are asked to create digital documents.
Q. What are your future plans?
After established ourselves in Europe, we would be expanding our reach to Africa and Middle East markets. As far as projects are concerned, we are anticipating large scale digitization projects from leading universities in north India.
