How has been the journey of Rubrik’s business in India?
Rubrik, enables enterprises to maximize value from data that is increasingly fragmented across data centers and clouds through a single, policy-driven platform for data recovery, governance, compliance, and cloud mobility. In India, we have enterprise customers spanning across BFSI, ITeS, Pharma, and Manufacturing, who use Rubrik solutions and service value from the secondary data storage. We are investing in India as a central part of our expansion policy and accelerating efforts in product engineering and sales.
The R&D centre in Bengaluru is part of Rubrik’s rapidly growing global engineering team and it plays a major role in delivering solutions to the world. The demand for Rubrik’s data management solutions has grown significantly in recent months in Asia Pacific and India. Rubrik has also invested in resources in Bangalore to address the Global System Integrator (GSI) ecosystem.
Your views on the recent trends driving India’s cloud opportunity driving growth for your business

Today, enterprises are seeing public cloud vendors as strategic partners and exploring new ways to leverage the innovation, agility, and scale of providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Data is the most precious resource of every business and protecting that data should be one of the top focus areas for every IT and security team, given the evolving and maturing threat landscape. What we’ve seen in headlines globally is that no business is safe – it doesn’t matter your size or industry, any business can be the victim of a ransomware attack. Rubrik is uniquely positioned with its Zero Trust Data Management approach to help businesses protect and secure their precious data and be prepared for inevitable cyber attacks like ransomware.
What is Rubrik’s approach to support organizations achieve data control, privacy and data agility while aligning with government’s data protection efforts?
India’s government has taken significant steps in tech policy and data regulations – compliance requirements for all types of data, central data protection, data localization for sensitive data. Rubrik has a core architectural advantage where we secure data in a seamless manner, no matter where that data lives.
What are some of the upcoming trends in cloud data management trends and how Rubrik plans to leverage them?
In 2021 and beyond, customers will be rethinking data management and considering a hybrid and multi-cloud strategy. In the next 5 years, most of the companies will embrace hybrid cloud deployment. Cloud adoption has drastically increased in recent years, with 2020 accelerating the trend even further, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the major challenges emerging with the increasing rate in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud adoption is managing data across multiple systems and locations within organizations. To overcome the challenges related to this evolving landscape, organizations will adopt end-to-end hybrid data management platforms to deliver greater visibility and control over their data across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, while ensuring data security and governance.
Rubrik acts as a true data fabric that works as an integrated platform to manage data regardless of its location. Rubrik’s core Cloud Data Management platform centralizes automation, governance, and protection of mission-critical applications including databases. The platform brings a number of capabilities to data and databases stored in a hybrid cloud and also to those stored fully off-premises. We have features that enable enterprises to efficiently store structured and unstructured data sets on-premises or in the cloud, with features including search and recovery for single files, indexing, and metadata capture and orchestration.
What is your roadmap in terms of industry sector wise focus, expansion, innovation, etc.?
Rubrik enables cyber and operational resilience for enterprises; including ransomware protection, risk compliance, automated data recovery, and a fast track to the cloud. Rubrik delivers a single, policy-driven platform for data recovery, governance, compliance, and cloud mobility. These benefits can be leveraged across industries and verticals, though the majority of our customers are in the healthcare, government, education, financial services, and legal sectors. Rubrik is setting the pace of innovation for the industry, having just launched its largest product release in company history (May 2021), specifically tackling ransomware recovery, and the company just hired a new Chief Product Officer to continue the momentum as a business, delivering the best data management products for our customers.
