Vultr launches high-performance cloud compute for public sector

Vultr has announced the launch of its high-performance cloud compute, cloud GPU, and bare metal infrastructure designed specifically for the public sector. The offering enables government and academic institutions to modernize critical systems, apply AI responsibly, and deliver secure digital services at scale.

As public institutions race to enhance digital citizen experiences, they face growing pressure to match private-sector agility and innovation. According to EY research, 58% of respondents believe governments must accelerate AI adoption, while Vultr’s annual AI Maturity Report shows 74% of organizations classify themselves as “Accelerated” or “Transformational.” However, the sector still struggles with fragmented missions, strict compliance mandates, and challenges in translating AI strategies into tangible citizen outcomes.

Available across 32 data center regions on six continents, Vultr’s public sector cloud combines AI readiness with sovereign deployment options, full compliance coverage, and access to AMD and NVIDIA GPUs for AI training, inference, and agentic workloads. Complementary offerings such as Serverless Inference, Kubernetes Engine, and integrated storage make it an ideal foundation for building and scaling data-driven and real-time public services.

To drive faster adoption, Vultr is collaborating with Rancher Government Solutions (RGS) — a leader in secure, enterprise-grade Kubernetes and container management for the U.S. government. Through the Vultr Cloud Alliance, a global partner network, public sector agencies can seamlessly integrate AI, data, and cloud-native solutions. With partners like Clarifai, agencies can build and deploy advanced AI models directly on Vultr’s infrastructure.

“The public sector is undergoing rapid digital transformation to improve transparency, operational efficiency, and citizen-centric outcomes,” said Kevin Cochrane, CMO, Vultr. “From national defense to digital identity systems, public institutions need scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure to meet growing demands. Vultr enables agencies and universities to innovate at speed while retaining full control of their data.”

Vultr’s new offering supports modernization and compliance through key capabilities:

  • Sovereign Cloud Regions: Regional deployment with strict data residency controls to protect sensitive citizen and government data.

  • Compliance-First Infrastructure: Coverage across GDPR, DORA, HIPAA, SOC 2, and a FedRAMP/GovRAMP roadmap toward Moderate authorization.

  • Composable Multicloud and Hybrid Architecture: API-first environments that integrate seamlessly with legacy IT and third-party edge systems.

  • Predictable Pricing: Transparent, usage-based pricing with TCO analysis aligned to public sector fiscal frameworks.

“Government agencies need secure, sovereign-ready infrastructure to power AI and modernize critical services,” said Ben Zifony, VP, Ecosystem and Partnerships, RGS. “Together with Vultr, we are enabling GPU-powered edge environments that help agencies innovate confidently and respond to mission needs in real time.”

“Driving digital transformation in the public sector requires infrastructure that balances global reach with local control,” added Craig Matsumoto, Contributing Analyst, Futuriom. “Vultr gives governments the ability to deploy AI for citizen services with the performance, compliance, and cost transparency needed to achieve real outcomes at both national and local levels.”
