R S Shanbhag, CMD, Valuepoint Group talks about how being customer focused has helped the company in becoming their preferred partner

With more than 2500 employees, 19 thousand plus partners and present at six different countries outside India, Valuepoint is recognized as one the leading IT Systems Integrators in the country today. The company has now completed almost three decades in the industry and is dedicated on delivering effective solutions and services to over 15,000 large enterprises and SMEs including Fortune 500 customers.

The journey started in a small room

In 1991, Valuepoint Systems started its journey with a small room with a team of 4-5 people in Bangalore. As Shanbhag points out, “Valuepoint group is a result of Sampath’s (Sampath Kumar is CEO and vice chairman of Valuepoint) and my hard work. From our first project in school till today, we have completely dedicated ourselves to the company. We have always stuck to integrity, values, and commitment. And that’s how we have crossed all the hurdles.”

The company helps its customers in dealing with their challenges and then guides them with proper solutions. “Being customer focused is one of our big strengths. We never go to the customers and forcefully push our product. In fact, we put a lot of effort in learning the customer, understanding their needs and reasons behind buying any particular solution. Once we have a clarity on these points, then only we sell products to them. Apart from this, we always try to be in touch with our customers so that we can know each other’s needs better,” says Shanbhag.

Focus verticals

Manufacturing, Media, BFSI, Healthcare, Education are some of the key verticals where Valuepoint is focusing right now. Apart from these, Auto/Logistics is another area of focus for the company. In terms of technology, Cloud Computing, Datacenter Solutions, Networking, Servers, Enterprise Applications, Desktops and notebooks, Mobility, UC/AV/Collaboration, BI and Analytics, Virtualization, Managed services, Printers, and Managed Print Services and Storage are the key domains for Valuepoint. Security is another domain where the company is focusing on.

Impacting lives and creating jobs

Customer satisfaction is one thing about which every company in solution providing industry probably thinks about. But Valuepoint, besides customer’s satisfaction, have always been working on creating jobs to the people. They want to impact people’s lives and make a difference through Digital Technologies. Additionally, the company is also working on the empowerment in rural areas through employment. “We work in the Valuepoint with a purpose to generate employment, create entrepreneurs, leaders and also to empower rural India. Money is important in life but we at Valuepoint consider our value, commitment and integrity first,” adds Shanbhag. The company is also working on new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) for healthcare vertical.

Digital India and Valuepoint

The company works indirectly to contribute its service to the government. They are not directly involved but through their customers, they are contributing their part. “We are associated with some of the partners of who are working on Smart City projects. This way we work as an indirect link in providing service to the government,” states Shanbhag.

Future plan

“By 2020, we will look at adding more head counts. Our aim is to build a team of around 10 thousand people. We will try to have our reach in different locations of India. We are working with 32 offices currently and planning to open a few more. Besides, we are aiming to add 7 more lines of business as part of the Valuepoint group. In terms revenue, we are looking to cross ` 500 crore from the current ` 300 crore in the next 3 years,” concludes Shanbhag.
